Costs

The basic costs for teaching, accommodation and meals amount to approximately € 28,000 to € 35,000 per school year. In addition to this there are costs for items such as health insurance, accident insurance and school fee default insurance.

School year

In the US and Canada the school year begins at the end of August/beginning of September. The exact date varies from school to school and depending on the state. The academic year usually ends in May in the US and in June in Canada. Depending on the school, the school year is divided into terms or semesters.

Holidays

Thanksgiving:	1 week (in Canada in October, in the USA in November)
Christmas:	2 weeks
Spring break:	3 weeks in March.

Application deadlines

Most American schools have an official application deadline, usually February 1st for entry the following September. The school’s Admissions Committee considers all applications received from February 10th. On March 19th schools notify applicants of their acceptance or rejection. In the event of an acceptance, students then have one month (until April 10th) to decide which offer to take up.
