Costs
School fees of between € 30,000 and € 40,000 per school year are normal in the UK. This covers all costs for regular classes, accommodation and meals. As a general rule, fees are paid before the beginning of the school year or term. Private lessons (e.g. academic tutoring, music lessons etc.) and special English lessons for foreign students (English as a Foreign Language) are subject to an additional charge. School year
A school year in the UK is divided into three terms. The school year starts in September, but each school has its own term dates.
| First term: | September to December |
| Christmas holidays | (approx. 3 weeks) |
| Second term: | January to March |
| Easter Holidays | (approx. 3 weeks) |
| Third term: | mid-April to end of June or beginning of July |
| Summer holidays: | July and August |
| Half-term holidays: | in the middle of each term (after about 6 weeks), for one to two weeks |
Application deadlines
As a general rule, applications for A-level schools should ideally be planned one year in advance. In some cases, applications for IB schools start one and a half years before the desired entry date.
