Useful information
Costs
The basic costs for attendance at boarding schools in Australia and New Zealand totals to approximately € 20,000 to € 25,000 per school year for teaching, accommodation and meals. In addition to flight and transfer costs, there are also additional fees for health insurance (approximately 300 – 350 Australian dollars or New Zealand dollars), private lessons (e.g. piano lessons) and certain sports (e.g. riding). School year
In Australia and New Zealand the academic year is based on the calendar year. The school year starts at the end of January/beginning of February and finishes at the start of December. With the exception of Tasmania, the school year is divided into four terms. Each term lasts between two and two and a half months and finishes with a two-week holiday before the next term begins. Application deadlines
In Australia and New Zealand there are no special application deadlines. Schools decide whether or not to accept a student quite fast – immediately after the application has been received. However, in order to allow sufficient time for registration and for planning outward travel, we recommend submitting applications no later than ten months in advance.
